Review Of Tribe ft. Black Coffee & Bucie

Ok so I know it's Tuesday I should really review a night on Monday at least but if you ever did understand what I'm going through.. wow!!

Tribe Records has built a name for itself with the 11 hot releases all doing well on Traxsource charts. It also has a reputation of throwing great parties, this one was no exception as possibly two of South Africa's finest House exports Black Coffee and Bucie were brought over for this special Tribe 1st Year Anniversary party os Saturday night. With a 7am finish I knew I was in for one hell of a night

It was taking place down at Dex Club, Brixton and I travelled down with my mate and Business Class promoter DJ Maintain, we touched down about 11.30 and was greeted by one huge queue, well what did we expect really?? I didnt need to queue though lol, we go in to the sounds of Zephrain Saint doing his thing, I was really impressed by the sound inside the venue, so I knew the Afro House would sound great. Zephrain played Bang The Drum and the vibe was building up really nicely inside, he also dropped the new Tribe release 'Burning Hot' by Peven Everett which also went down well.. DJ Romain was in the building and it was great to meet and great him.

Fast forward to 1am and the man of the hour was ready and set.. Black Coffee laid down some real heat and the crowd went mad!! Many people had come from as far as Leeds to see him in action and it was tremendous. His style of mixing was quite simple a lot of cuting the bass for 16 bars and just hitting you back with the deep afro sound, his use of the the echo effect was mastered to a next level!! Culoe De Song's 'Bright Forest' was one of the highlights of the 1st segment as well as others which I either havent come across or just cannot remember their name.

He then mixed in Your Kiss (Ralf Gum Remix) and Bucie took to the stage, it was quite an amazing PA which flowed and was mixed in very nicely with Respect Me and then Turn Me On and Superman which was most probably the highlight of the PA! Her voice is very special and I really enjoyed the performance..

Black Coffee's set then continued an he dropped one track directly after Bucie that for the life of me I didnt know what it was but in my opinion was the best track of the night, I wanted it to last forever. I also got to hear the 'Hey Hey' Remix which didnt let me down hearing live also 'Diwati Poem' and 'Webaba' went down a treat. Overall his set was excellent and extremely solid and it opened my mind further to the Afro House and took my love of it to a further height. I would recommend anyone to check him out if he is in town!!

Outside I manage to talk to him, he was a very humble although very tired from his gig in Paris the night before, he said he was humbled by the experiences of playing Afro House outside of his native land and believed Superman for him was the track the shutdown the place.. he also exclusively said that the Hey Hey remix may be coming out on a part 2 remixes package from Defected. Two years on from his first gig in London his support has grown immensely and I think it will get even stronger.

I left at 5am as both of us were overly tired but overly blessed

One Sound One People - Tribe what a night!! thank you!!

Nathan Adams & Zepherin Saint - Holdin On - Music Video

Come across this nicely crafted video by Nathan Adams & Zepherin Saint. Holding On is Tribe Records seventh release but their 1st video. Following up from the excellent 1st release 'Circles' by the same duo in March 08 this track with its carnival vibe to it I like a lot. Watch out for more Tribe Records heat this year!! Check this out!!
